The Land of Lakes and Pines (P.Simoens) Creeks are veins and leaves are made up the same. Like you and me. They're falling down, they’re collecting on the ground as the wind blows through the trees. I like it better when it's cold. We strum along, put the kettle on, and get close together by the fire for hours and hours. Ignite a spark. There's combustion on the hearth, as we stoke our way through the dark. It warms our blood, It's holding back the flood, and it keeps us tied in the neighbourhood. I like it better when it's cold. We sing along, when the record is on, and get close together by the fire for hours and hours. Winter is here. It's the longest night of the year in the northern hemisphere. The world is mine in the land of lakes and pines. Mother nature is my valentine. I like it better when it's cold. We strum along, put the kettle on, and get close together by the fire, for hours and hours. Peace comes at last, through the seasons. Kettle screaming, six months freezing.

Yukon Princess (P.Simoens) You leave for church, I creep outside to the garage. I’m in the car, I'm going quickly but it's still in park. I'm gonna crash into this wall that I cannot see past. I only feel death and not the rest for my Yukon princess. Little brother, you understand what I see. Now that you’re older, older than I'll ever be. Please don’t intrude. Rosary beads and my pain hide the truth that life just ain't fair. I've a confession that I mustn't share. I fall asleep. Love is a blanket with thorns underneath. Now comes the climb. I fixed my troubles but yours will take time. Little brother, folks cannot see from beyond. Only in thoughts, memories, and stories are all.
3.
Big Change Coming (P.Simoens) Know these woods like the back of your hand. Feather, fur, and fin. Six Nations Indian. Big change coming for the Iroquois. The white men coming with a bible and a cross. Trade you a bottle for a medicine bag, and hand you a noose while they set up a flag. Spirits come from the fire. Warriors, occupiers, down to the wire. Chainsaws headed up to Haida Gwaii. Mother’s on the run 'cause they need a supply. Ethics up and split so we’re throwing a fit, 'cause power won’t shift when the people submit. Close those blinds, pay no mind. Canary is dead in the coal mine. Life is a pipeline. Not an animal left for the hunt at Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump. Chipewyan tar sand cancer patient. Victims of immoral government.
4.
Friday Night Singers (P.Simoens) We all can't wait for the night. We gave away all the daylight doing shit we don't like. We ain't got time for a good life. A breath of smoke in my lungs. I don't know when we're not drunk. Intoxication is a crutch. The world can look but it can't touch us. The walls are shaking and It's cold outside. Every Friday has an endless night. I lose my balance and I'm losing my sight. Turn up the music and it heats up inside. Another night on a tear. I drink my wages and don't care. The rats are gasping for air, dividing dreams from the nightmares. The walls are shaking and it's cold outside. Every Friday has an endless night. We crank the chorus for the words we all know, and pay tomorrow for the seeds that we've sewn. We all can't wait for the night. We gave away all the daylight doing shit we don't like. We ain't got time for a good life. The walls are shaking and it's cold outside, and every Friday has an endless night

Winter Storm 04:53
Winter Storm (P.Simoens) Fresh snow. Love through my window. Summer’s dead forest. Fresh ground to lay new tracks down. Here in my own forest town, I sound the storm warning bell. Road closed. Just me and this guitar in the woods. Without a worrisome word or electronic chirp. Outside, a blistering winter storm. But inside, i stay warm until the spring returns. When i die, toss my ashes aside deep in the pines. My atoms fly! All my nights, pictures of the northern lights.

Soon I’ll Be Fine (P.Simoens) It’s a gold sunny day, but I can’t feel the rays. I just feel the blues and that’s okay. ‘Cause it’s been a long, long cold winter. I’ll try not to whine, ‘cause there’s pain in our kind, and I don’t wanna trouble you people with mine. But It’s such release, and soon I’ll be fine. It’s been a long, long cold winter.
7.
Boy Scout Jamboree (P.Simoens) The world is filled with joyful people hanging Christmas lights upon a tree. I sit around the house pretending I'm you at the Boy Scout Jamboree. Any gift would be unequal to the happy child I used to be. Someone lie to me. Tell me everything will be just fine, If only I'd believe them. I grow my hair out just a little, take a comb and part it to the side. Take my glasses off and put them on the sink so I can see your eyes. Then I look into the mirror and it seems as though you’re still alive. Someone lie to me. Tell me everything will be just fine, If only I'd believe them. I use my imagination, that I had to learn when I was nine. But I recall your arms were bigger and I see I'm wearing a disguise. Though I find it hard to say it, I’ll never know the Claude who chose life. Why did you leave? You didn't know you'd heal in time ‘cause you were only seventeen.
8.
Deer in Headlights (P.Simoens) I think I'm in trouble now. Chemicals are turning south. Keeping words close to mouth. Far away from kids and spouse. I wish that I could sing songs the way that you can sing songs to me. I wish that I could tell a lie, as if everything could be alright. They don't notice my stealth. I hardly notice myself. This can't be good for my health, to be envying everyone else. Nothing's in the way, nothing’s in my way. What should I say? ‘Cause I am not engrossed. I have been a ghost and dumb as a fence post. Freezing up like a deer caught in headlights. I feel lost in the dark and you seem so bright. Anytime that I'm caught in the spotlight It's like a target for a great big meteorite. They don't notice my stealth. I hardly notice myself. This can't be good for my health to be envying everyone else. Oh, the nights when you call me near, I just cannot avoid this fear.
9.
Candles 04:02
Candles (P.Simoens) The stars come out to my delight. I’m watching history as they multiply. Here lies the universe. All life sprung from her lights. I'm standing in the street with moonlight on concrete. I’ve lost my speech. I’m just a grain of sand on a beach . So many mysteries in the night, and I hope to understand them before I die. Birthplace, candles in space. Through time they reach this place. I’m turning to the east and waiting for the morning sun. I can't stand still. The universe weighs a ton.
10.
Church of the Lake (P.Simoens) I don't want you to be sorry. I don’t need you to come back. I don't want help so don't worry. I found solace off the old beaten path. Down at the water, down at the lake. There’s a fog hanging over the forest. The weatherman is calling for rain. My body swells up with a madness. But the water is gonna wash it all away. I'm going down to the water, down to the lake. Pick yourself up from the floor. You don't have to be afraid anymore. Some say there's no explanation. We’re like sitting ducks waiting for death. Some say we all live forever if a love for a Lord is professed. But I don't consent to any one of them. I’ve got my own amends to fill the emptiness. Others may repent in a spiritual ascent, but I’m starting my attempt at feeling grounded. Infinity awaits for those who go straight down to the water, down to the lake. Speaking words to me, a sanctuary. Down at the water, down at the lake. I’m going down to the water, down to the lake.
11.
Prairie Slumber (P.Simoens) Change comes slow, unlike our progress. Who holds the rope during this conquest? No more hiding from the thunder. Living in the bison's world we’ve plundered. You better wake yourself from slumber. The herd comes running and you ain't no hunter. Greed is like a ghost on a finite world of endless growth. So we grow and grow and grow, till we’ve got no place to go. No more hiding from the thunder. Living in the bison's world we’ve plundered. You better wake yourself from slumber. The herd comes running and you ain't no hunter. Free this consumer and all the golden baby boomers, who gotta stock up for that retirement. Hurray! No more hiding from the thunder. Living in the bison's world we’ve plundered. You better wake yourself from slumber. The herd comes running and you ain't no hunter. All that we own goes back when we're gone. But I don't feel alone knowing what I know.
